The Smallest Prize
Without a doubt, the highlight of my Patagonia trip was a visit with an austral pygmy owl in the Lapataia Forest in Tierra del Fuego. I've always considered wild owl encounters special (since they're usually tough animals to find), and had never even seen a northern pygmy owl before. It was very cool coming face to face with this tiny hunter for a few minutes.
